Newcastle’s Best joins Blackburn

• Best has signed a four-year deal with the Championship club
• Rovers confirm transfer for a fee of more than £3m

Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Newcastle United’s striker Leon Best. Rovers have agreed a fee of more than £3m for the 25 -year-old, who has a four-year contract at Ewood Park.

The Championship club confirmed the switch in a statement on their website.

Best had more than two seasons at St James’ Park, joining from Coventry City for £1.2m in February 2010.

He missed a fair bit of the 2010-11 season to injury but was a regular in the side for the first half of last season, scoring four goals in 18 Premier League games up to the beginning of February, when Papiss Cissé had arrived and was scoring almost at will. Read More
